SYLK Co is committed to providing a website that's usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities.

Where we stand under AODA

Ontario's Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) requires a formal multi-year accessibility plan and published policies for organizations with 50 or more employees. As a small, independent retailer below that threshold, we aren't currently required to publish a multi-year plan — but we still aim to follow good accessibility practice, and we'll adopt a formal AODA plan if our size or obligations change.

What we do today

• Semantic, structured HTML with headings, landmarks and labelled form fields, so the site works with screen readers and other assistive technology.
• Descriptive alt text on product and category images, and aria-labels on icon-only controls (search, basket, menu).
• Keyboard-operable navigation, forms and checkout, without relying on mouse-only interactions.
• Colour and contrast chosen for legibility, and text that resizes without breaking the layout.
• The site is built to work across common browsers, screen sizes and, where supported, screen readers.

We generally aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as a reference standard. This is an ongoing effort rather than a certified or audited compliance claim — some pages or third-party components may not yet fully meet every guideline.
